Hiking and Sea Food

What a beautiful day in Santa Barbara. Jonathon and I didn't have a concert today, so we spent the day celebrating my birthday and our two year anniversary.

We started by having a wonderful breakfast at Alphie's here in Goleta. After filling up, we headed out for some beautiful hiking trails. We started at Hot Springs, for a hike that promised to never seem very steep, although it climbed 1,000 feet. Lies! We climbed near vertical sandstone for over an hour. It was worth it though, for some amazing views of the entire area (photos to come--the camera's out of batteries).

We felt exhausted, but well exercised, after that hike, and decided to do part of another hike to see Cold Spring, which promised pools of water and waterfalls, etc. Due to a wrong turn we started at the end of the trail rather than the beginning, and began by climbing 900 feet straight up in the heat of the sun, rather than the cool of the forest. It payed off though. We got amazing views of the ocean and the Channel Islands (Island of the Blue Dolphin--hurrah!) The hike ended in a beautiful forest covered area where the spring ran through the hiking path. It was a lovely and cool end to the hike.

Afterwards we headed for the city for some sea food. Yum yum.

See you all tomorrow in Victorville tomorrow, followed by more LA area gigs!
